Animal protection vs
Animal release
In 2017, animal release received much publicity. A Buddhist group was fined for releasing non-native species of crustaceans into the Channel.
The case was covered by all major UK media; The Times, The Telgraph, Dailymail, The Guardian, Metro,
Animal Release - Fangsheng
Animal Release or "Fangsheng" is an act of compassion to free captive animals back to their original habitat.
However, this practise as the UK case have shown can create problems if non native species are released instead. Animal Release must be done with compassion and wisdom to achieve the best results.
In most urban environment, animals are bred for consumption and are unable to survive even if released or can destroy local ecosystem.
Animal Protection - Husheng
An alternative is animal protection and this includes:
- Supporting animal shelters and rescuers
- Adopting pets instead of buying
- Embracing a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle
These ideals were captured in our 2017 "The animal protection documentary" starring our cats including Ken Ken, Gold-D, Jonah, Seng Seng....
Let do it!
We want to reach out to Buddhist groups to advocate Husheng in support of shelters and rescuers.
