Missy
DOB: 1 Sept 2006
DOA: 19 Jul 2018
We came to know about Missy when her rescuers call for help after running out of funds to pay for her boarding.
Call for help
She had kidney failure and was thought to be blind. As a last resort, they will be forced to release Missy onto the street.
Given her condition, it is extremely unlikely she will survive for long without medical attention.
After discussing with her rescuers, we decided to adopt Missy so that we can continue to give her the medical attention she needs.
Felv+
At the vet, she did not seem to be blind or visually impaired. However, Missy was tested positive for Felv so she needs to be separated from the other cats to prevent the spread of Felv.
Missy’s rescue has been full of surprises. Unknown to us, as we were discussing about adopting Missy, a drama was unfolding.
Drama
One of Missy’s rescuer had a food sponsor. She demanded that the rescuer put Missy to sleep i.e. kill Missy. Failure to compile meant the end of the food sponsorship.
The feeder refused and her food sponsorship ended.
Felv is not an issue
When Missy came to us, she had a room to herself. As she settled down, it was clear she was not blind.
She is an intelligent, smart and cheerful cat. With good food, she has begun to put on weight and is also healthier. She needs subcut every other day and we give her supplements to reduce the work load on her kidneys to boost her immune system.
Although there is no treatment for Felv, with good food, clean home and lots of love, Felv+ cats can still have a good quality life.
We are very happy to be able to care for Missy.
Missy is featured on Gold-D clumping paper litter. We believe she is the first known Felv+ cat to be a featured on a catproduct. We want to promote acceptance of Felv+ cats.
